How to Prepare Kava

Preparing kava can be a relaxing process in itself. All you need is kava, room temperature water, a kava cup and a strainer cloth. Check out our video or see our guide below to learn how to prepare kava.

Measure out desired amount of kava and place in strainer bag

  



Place strainer bag in mixing bowl and add room-temperature water (recommend ratio 1 - 1.5 litres water per 100g kava depending on taste) 
  




Secure strainer bag and submerge in water
  




Knead and squeeze kava (preferably for 10 minutes) to release the activated kavalactones. If using a Tupou Kava cotton strainer bag do not overfill bag and do not squeeze through the seams (bag is designed to strain a maximum of 500g of kava powder at a time).
    

  




Check for colour change. Kava is ready when the water takes on the earthy tone of the kava


Serve kava into a cup and enjoy in moderation
